A Constellation of Time: The SWAG 10 Signature Ornament by Holthinrichs Watches and Atelier KAI
The Singapore Watch Appreciation Group (nee SWAG) is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a collaboration model from Dutch independent darlings, Holthinrichs. Based off their well-received Signature Ornament, the collaboration model is the culmination of months of online back-and-forth between the Holthinrichs team and the SWAG administrators. Let’s take a closer look at the final prototype of the SWAG 10 Signature Ornament.

Independent watchmaking has always thrived at the intersection of artistry and craft, and few collaborations capture that balance quite as eloquently as this one. To mark its 10th anniversary, The Singapore Watch Appreciation Group (SWAG) has partnered with Dutch independent brand Holthinrichs Watches and local bespoke strap atelier Atelier KAI to create a commemorative timepiece that is at once a tribute and a reflection—a watch that looks back even as it looks up.
The SWAG 10 Ornament begins with the foundation of Holthinrichs’ Ornament model, a design already celebrated for its architectural sensibility and sculptural precision. Here, the familiar lines and open lugs are given a deeply personal reinterpretation. The dial, a rich anthracite black rhodium-frosted surface over a brass base, carries a sense of quiet drama, its depth and texture suggesting something far greater than decoration.
At SWAG’s request, the Holthinrichs team looked to the night sky above Singapore as it appeared on the day the community was founded ten years ago. That moment in celestial history now lives on the dial, where a field of laser-etched stars shimmers faintly in the light—a poetic gesture that anchors this anniversary piece to both place and time.

After months of design and feedback over Zoom and WhatsApp messages, it was a revelation to finally receive the prototype. Holding the Signature Ornament in hand, one would immediately notice how lithe the watch is. On the wrist, it wears low, afforded by the choice of a top-grade SW300 movement.
The Signature Ornament measures 46 mm from lug to lug, coupled with the 38.5 mm case diameter. Those measurements ensure balanced proportions even with its striking, architectural lugs. Crafted from 3D-printed Grade 5 titanium, the case is brought to life with meticulous hand-finishing that highlights its sculptural form. The SWAG 10 case is polished on top, while retaining the Ornament’s signature rough surfacing on the caseback.

In typical Holthinrichs fashion, there is complexity layered within the apparent simplicity. A sapphire crystal inner layer (bearing the brand’s signature) floats above the dial, upon which titanium hour markers are mounted, suspended between two crystals to create an ethereal sense of depth. The traditional central seconds hand has been omitted, its absence reinforcing a calm, almost meditative rhythm to the watch. Both the hands and markers are treated with Super-LumiNova, ensuring legibility in the dark, a subtle reminder that light itself is a measure of time.
True to SWAG’s understated character, branding is discreet. The group’s logo is found only on the rotor, while the caseback quietly proclaims “10 Years of SWAG.” There is no overt display of identity, only a restrained confidence that speaks to the maturity of the community and its appreciation for the independent spirit.
Completing the collaboration is Atelier KAI, the Singapore-based bespoke strap maker whose work embodies the same spirit of individuality that defines SWAG. Each owner of the SWAG 10 Ornament will have the opportunity to work directly with the atelier to create a custom strap —a thoughtful addition that recognises how the final expression of any watch is deeply personal.
In the end, the SWAG 10 Ornament is less about commemoration than conversation. It reflects a decade of shared passion among collectors and makers, captured in a constellation of metal, glass, and light. It is a reminder that in watchmaking, as in the heavens, meaning is often found in what we choose to mark, and what we choose to remember.
