Tissot launches 35mm PRX Powermatic 80

When the Tissot PRX burst onto the scene back in 2020, it was a certified hit.  Seizing the moment, Tissot has expanded the PRX line to include automatic 40mm and chronograph versions.  The new 35mm Powermatic versions promise to be the Goldilocks of the range for many collectors.

Drawing inspiration from the iconic 1978 model, the Tissot PRX 35mm breathes new life into this timeless design, seamlessly blending vintage charm with modern functionality. By returning to the original case size and now incorporating an automatic movement, Tissot expands its offering while staying true to its authentic roots. This watch is a must-have for collectors and style enthusiasts alike.

Offered in a dazzling array of dial colours — black, green, blue, and white mother-of-pearl — there’s a PRX 35mm automatic for everyone. Notably, the white mother-of-pearl version achieves a harmonious blend, with the waffle dial creating a more versatile and unisex appeal than typically associated with mother-of-pearl designs.

Each model features a meticulously sculpted 35mm case, crafted from high-quality steel, and showcases both polished and satin finishes, contributing to the timepiece’s luxurious appearance and feel. The watch boasts a polished steel bezel, engraved crown, and a satin-finish steel bracelet with a triple-blade folding steel clasp. This Swiss Made marvel is powered by a Powermatic 80 movement, granting an impressive 80-hour power reserve. Its sapphire crystal and mineral glass back guarantee durability and water resistance up to 100 meters (10 ATM).

The dials of these timepieces are adorned with a waffle pattern embossed directly into the metal, distinguishing them from their quartz models. Applied indices embellish the dial’s surface, lending depth and sophistication to the PRX line. The date display at 3 o’clock is encased in a bevelled and applied window, further accentuating its importance. Additionally, the watch features a Nivachron™ balance hairspring, ensuring enhanced precision and performance. With its intricate design elements and the inclusion of the brand’s iconic mechanical movement, the PRX Powermatic 80 exemplifies Tissot’s dedication to combining elegance and precision in the art of watchmaking.

For those who found the 40mm Powermatic 80 to not be vintage-accurate, and the Chronograph to be ponderous on the wrist, the 35mm PRX Powermatic must tick all the boxes.   The entire line is now available via Tissot‘s extensive retailer network, although stock is currently limited in availability, much like the 40mm versions when they first launched.
