Tissot’s PRX series has been out for a while (and we have covered them here and here.) and so it should be about time for the line to receive a special treatment.  And boy, Le Locle really did pull out all the stops for this collaboration effort.

For those who are not clued-in, Tissot has been the official Timekeeper of the National Basketball Association (NBA) since 2015.  And for the PRX collaboration, they tapped on the talent of eight-time NBA All-Star point guard Damian Lillard.  When he’s not commanding the court with the Milwaukee Bucks, Lillard dabbles in hip-hop.  He has been releasing tracks as musical alter-ego “Dame DOLLA” since 2016.

The superstar has this to say about the collaboration: “Tissot and I share a common belief – greatness can be for everyone.  Creating this signature watch with Tissot has been an incredible experience.  What I love about the PRX collection is its sleek design paired with the Switch watch quality we all know, but still comes at a price that’s fair.  A watch that speaks to my style and values – high quality, down-to-earth, and inclusive.  It’s about bringing top-notch Swiss craftsmanship experience to every wrist, not just the privileged few.”

Just another day at the office for Mr Lillard

Signature Twist on the Wrist

The collaboration piece blends the well-known features of the PRX Powermatic 80 with unique elements that reflect Lillard’s personality and career. Based on the gold PVD model variant, this special edition boasts a distinct black dial embossed with the number ‘0’, a nod to a few things that Lillard holds dear  – his jersey number, the title of his very 1st single, and his birthplace, Oakland.  The second hand features Damian’s monogram, a subtle yet meaningful change.

The flange of the watch reveals more personal details, with each quadrant telling a part of Lillard’s story. ‘DAME’ and ‘TIME’ adorn the top left and right corners respectively, synonymous with Lillard’s on-court moniker and clutch performances. The bottom right corner, marked ‘DDKK’, is a heartfelt homage to his family: Damian, Damian Lamonte Ollie, Kali Emma Lee, and Kalii Laheem. The bottom left corner boldly states ‘YKWTII’, an acronym for ‘You Know What Time It Is’, setting the stage for those iconic ‘Dame Time’ moments.

Different, but still the same

The PRX Powermatic 80 Gold PVD is encased in a 40 mm diameter gold-PVD body, adorned with polished and satin finishes.  The watch features a sapphire crystal front and a mineral glass back, ensuring durability and clarity.  Inside, the reliable Powermatic 80 automatic movement powers the watch, boasting an 80-hour reserve, with a precision movement including a Nivachron™ balance hairspring, mirrors the exceptional performance and reliability akin to Damian’s on-court prowess (please take a look at the Youtube video).

The special edition dial, like its regular version, is adorned with indices and baton hands coated in Super-LumiNova®, always guarantees readability.  The gold-PVD bracelet features a single link with an interchangeable system, so it can be switched for a rubber or leather strap in a flash.  Finally, the triple-blade folding clasp allows for security and ease-of-use.
